Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Hyperact's Rebranded Teacher Logos

Welcome to Teacher Appreciation Week!

I actually love teacher appreciation week. This is a week when I am reminded to think about those who influenced my education and become more conscious of the influence I have with my students. During this week I also get to hear so many stories of positive outcomes. Often in education careers the stories center around struggles as we all want to fix the problems. It is nice to have a positive week like Teacher Appreciation Week.

Some folks are down about this week since Obama announced that this would also be National Charter Schools week. I honestly do not mind sharing the week with charter schools. Teachers work there too!

One thing I do mind though is the typical teacher appreciation gifts:

Typical teacher gifts in red and apple...I could live without strange coffee mugs covered in pictures of apples and plaid sticky notes. Instead head over to the Hyperakt store – support the rebranding of teachers and pick up a cool shirt or wall calendar. (Don’t buy the coffee mug – the size I like is out of stock)!

Honestly though I doubt teachers expect much in the way of gifts. The stories are usually the juicy fruit we all need – especially at this time of year.
